A city of students, heritage and small businesses that run on reputation

Dunedin has more than 20,000 students at the University of Otago and the polytech, a new hospital going up in the middle of town, and a steady flow of visitors coming for the Peninsula, the albatrosses and the architecture. Every February a new intake of students arrives who have never heard of your café, your barber or your flat-fixing sparky.

The city’s businesses are spread between the Octagon and George Street, the student flats of North Dunedin, South Dunedin, Mosgiel on the Taieri, and the harbourside at Port Chalmers. A lot of them are decades old and known by name. A simple site makes sure the name still turns into a visit when someone searches it.

What goes on a Dunedin business website

The parts of town you serve

Dunedin is spread out. Naming North Dunedin, South Dunedin, Mosgiel, St Clair, Roslyn, Māori Hill, Andersons Bay, Port Chalmers or Green Island tells locals you cover them and helps Google with “plumber Mosgiel” or “café St Clair”.

Hours, including the quiet weeks

Term breaks empty North Dunedin, and winter changes hours for a lot of places. One spot on the site to update hours, and a note for holidays, so the site never contradicts your door.

One tap to call, book or find you

Students and visitors are on their phones. Call, booking and map buttons stay in reach on every screen, and the site loads fast on a flat’s bad wifi.

A Google Business Profile that agrees with the site

We check your Maps listing has the same hours, categories and service area as the site, and link your reviews.

Photos of your actual place

Your shopfront on George Street, a job on a villa in Roslyn, your room at the clinic. Real Dunedin photos, never stock.

Who we build for in Dunedin

  • Cafés, bars and food

The Octagon, George Street, Princes Street, St Clair and Port Chalmers. Menu, hours, map pin, and photos that look like the place.

  • Trades

Builders, sparkies, plumbers, roofers and painters keeping Dunedin’s old villas warm and dry, from Mornington to Mosgiel.

  • Health and allied health

Physios, dentists, podiatrists and counsellors around the hospital and the suburbs, with booking and ACC spelled out.

  • Student services

Flat cleaners, movers, tutors and repair people who get a new wave of customers every February and need to be found by them.

  • Tourism and outdoors

Peninsula tours, bike hire, guides and small accommodation that need bookings, seasons and a map that works for visitors.

  • Makers and studios

Artists, craftspeople and small manufacturers selling from a workshop or market stall who need one clear page to send people to.

Across Dunedin and Otago

We serve businesses across Dunedin, Mosgiel, Port Chalmers, the Peninsula and the coastal suburbs, and further afield in Oamaru, Balclutha, Milton and Central Otago.

We are not based in Dunedin. Everything happens by email, which works for a tradie on a Mosgiel site or a café owner mid-morning rush. Haven’t got a site yet? Start here. In the trades? See what goes on a tradie site.

Questions we get asked

Anything else? Email us and you’ll hear back within 24 hours.

How much does a website cost in Dunedin?

Our prices are the same across New Zealand: NZ$1,490 for a one-page Essentials site, NZ$2,490 for Business (up to 6 pages, copywriting, booking or enquiry set-up) and NZ$3,490 for Growth (up to 12 pages). All one-off. The optional care plan is NZ$49 a month. Essentials suits a single café or a one-person trade. For a wider look at prices, see our NZ website cost guide.

Do you have an office in Dunedin?

No. We serve Dunedin businesses by email and we do not have an office there. We work the same way for businesses all over the South Island. You get a link to your homepage design, reply with changes when you have a minute, and approve the wording before anything goes live.

How long does it take?

Your homepage design arrives within 24 hours of your go-ahead, and the finished site goes live within 72 hours if you reply quickly to the two rounds of changes. Timings run on your clock in Dunedin, by email, so there is no waiting for a meeting slot.

Can the site reach new students each year?

Partly. Students search “barber near me” or “flat cleaning Dunedin” on their phones, so a fast page with the right suburbs, hours and a map pin is what shows up. We also tidy your Google Business Profile, which is what they see first.

My business is in Mosgiel. Should the site say Dunedin?

Both. Mosgiel searches are their own thing and the page can lead with Mosgiel and the Taieri, then say you cover Dunedin too, if you do.

I have an old site that nobody updates. Can you replace it?

Yes. Send us the address. We design a new homepage from what is already there and your Google listing, you compare, and if you go ahead we move the domain across so nothing breaks.
